About us

Lifewalk Church is a God-glorifying, Jesus-centered, Spirit-led, Scripture-based family of believers in
York, NE. Our heritage is rooted in the fellowship known as the Churches of Christ, and we are
grateful for our heritage. Our primary allegiance is to the truth revealed in Scripture and in the grace
and freedom found in Christ.

Our primary commitments as a church is to worship God, serve others in love, and share the good
news with our community.

Lifewalk Church Statement of Faith
God

We believe there is One God, the Almighty Creator and Sustainer of all things, who is the Father of us
all. God exists eternally in the Holy Trinity– Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Mathew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Colossians 1:16; John 1:3

Jesus Christ
Jesus the Messiah, is God’s only Son, our Lord. He was born in the first-century to the virgin Mary.
During his life and ministry, he announced that the kingdom of God had arrived to earth. As signs that
God’s life-giving kingdom had arrived, Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, welcomed sinners, and
showed mercy to all. He was crucified for the sins of the world, died, and was buried. On the third
day, he rose again from the dead, defeating death. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the
right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
Luke 1-2; 23:13-24:53; Matthew 4:17; 16:16; 27:24-28:20; Acts 2:33; 17:31; Ephesians 1:20

Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit empowered the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ and is given to Christians as
God’s indwelling and empowering presence to strengthen us to live holy lives and to send us out in
mission.
Luke 4:14, 18; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Galatians 5:22-24; Acts 13:2-4

The Church
Jesus Christ established his holy worldwide church that comprises all believers past and present. The
church is the visible manifestation of God’s kingdom on earth, comprised of all those who live in faith
to the Lord Jesus Christ. Members of the church are given various gifts to serve one another and
share the good news of Jesus with the world.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14; Ephesians 1:22-23; Romans 12:4-5

Sin and Forgiveness
The Apostle Paul says, “For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Although we are all made in the image of God and loved by God, we live in a fallen world and face
many temptations. We rebel against God’s good intentions for our lives. Forgiveness is a free gift
offered to us from God through Jesus Christ. The gift of grace is received through a living faith in
Jesus as Lord.
Romans 3:23; John 14:6; Ephesians 2:4-10

Baptism
Baptism enacts the key points of the good news. It is performed in the name of the Father, Son, and
Spirit. It reenacts the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the visible moment that we
are adopted as children into the family of God. The physical act of baptism symbolizes the spiritual
reality that one’s sins are washed away.
Mark 1:9-11; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-4; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:27-28

Resurrection and Eternal Life
Jesus will return to the earth, raise the dead, judge all humankind in righteousness, establish the
fullness of God’s kingdom, and reign with his people forever.
1 Corinthians 15:50-57; 2 Corinthians 5:9-10; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 21:1-8

Scripture
We believe that the 66 books of the canon of Scripture are God-breathed and the authority for the life
and faith of the church. Scripture tells the story of God’s mission to redeem the world, and as we
read, study, and memorize Scripture, we learn how to join God’s redemptive work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17

Men and Women
We believe that men and women of all races and backgrounds are made in the image of God and are
to be treated with dignity, respect, and Christian love. Men and women are called to lives of holiness,
whether lived in singleness or in marriage. Both men and women are gifted to serve in ministry in the
church.
Genesis 1:27; Acts 2:17-18; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; Romans 12:6-8; Galatians 3:28

Unity in Difference
“In essential beliefs we have unity, in nonessential beliefs we have liberty, and in all our beliefs we
show love.” Not everyone in our church agrees on all elements of Christian doctrine, how the
Christian faith is best lived out, or what our worship service should look like. Our unity does not come
from agreement on all our preferences but through Christ. We display our unity through practicing
virtues such as love, compassion, kindness, humility, and forgiveness.

John 17:20-23; 1 Corinthians 1:10; 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:1-6; Colossians 3:12-14
